I have a nice salvaged PT that I want to use and I am having
trouble sorting out which of four wires
(two black or somewhat of a purple hue, and two that look like they were brown at some point)
are the primary taps (wouldn't want to plug a second 6.3 volt tap
into the wall socket). The black wires have a dc resistance of
.16 ohms across them and the brown wires measure 1.51 ohms
(there is no CT for either set).
I have measured many PT's in the past and know that the
primary taps always have a higher resistance than filament taps,
but I also have never used a transformer that had brown primary
leads and black filament leads. Also, most of the PT's I have used
usually have only one brown lead which is a tap off the HV secondary
and can be measured via the HV CT (bias tap). This PT seems to
be opposite in all respects.
Can anyone grab the wheel here? |

| We need more information than you're giving. Where did the PT come from? Are you sure it's a PT? What was it installed in? Are there any markings on it? Have you connected it to a battery to see which side drops or if either side does? |

I found out my PT was really a giant hunk of plutionum which I
sold for several hundred thousand dollars, now I have plenty of amps
thank you, the rest of the money went for radiation treatments |
