Ahoy, after a long gap I am getting back into amp building. I first used PSUD in about 2007 IIRC so very pleased to see it still going. My first effort resulted from finding a Nesco intsruments valve chart recorder in my Dad's garage, heaven knows where he got that from, he is more into lathes and stem engines. Already being into guitars I purloined that and rebuilt it into a preamp stage since it lacked a suitable OT, although it did feature a 6AQ5 for some purpose which I did not immediately reuse. It was the best sounding bit of guitar gear I'd ever had but sadly the PT released it's magic smoke the one time I left the room with it switched on. So, sold my Marshall valvestate, got a new PT, a suitable OT and built a fairly typical single ended 5W which I'm pleased to say is still in regular use today. Following that was a rather over elaborate single ended head, reverb, FX loop, multi tube bias options, attenuator, all the things and a maintenance nightmare. I built it for a mate, I hope it still works, haven't seen him in years. I didn't have money to buy all new parts for more builds but started picking up any old valve gear that appeared in the local auction house, but as is the way, real life intervened, sold off the nicest radios, kept one real nice working phillips stereo radio, and kept a few chassis and transformer combos stashed away for years, waiting for that day . . .which is today! First up lovely PP EL84 amp out of an electrostatic wheel organ. Planning to rebuild it into something AC15 like. I'm pretty rusty and never knew that much so questions will abound.
