The duncanamps site is perpertuating what appears to be a typographical error in a tube substitution manual. If you check the listing for 12AX7, type 5721 is listed as a sub. If you check 5721 at duncanamps, is is shown as having the 9A basing. The 5721 listing also says it is nearly equivalent to a CV3970. When I checked CV3970 at duncanamps, it again showed the 9 pin dual triode basing.

Yes the CV3970 is the same as a 5721. However, the CV3970/5721 is a radar klystron. All you need to do to confirm this is to click on the link to the Virtual Valve Museum on the same page.

I suspect every 12AX7-related listing at duncanamps has to be checked. If Duncanamps is not interested in non-receiving tubes, then CV3970 and 5721 simply need to be removed.

I beleive the original error appears in a US tube substitution manual, where 5751 was actually intended.

Jim, I've taken out all the subs that list 5721 in the 12AX7 family. The 5721/CV3970 link has been retained.

All uploading now, so it will take a little while as the changes are quite far reaching. Thanks for letting me know.
