Folks,
It has been a bit quiet recently, so I thought I would post a link to my amp to see what sort of reaction I might receive. Here is the link:-

Let me know what you think, good or bad.
Many thanks, |

Wow! Nice!!!
Now for the questions...
- A two independent channel amp is that?
- Schematic!
- That top cab, I haven't seen (yet) whizzer cones on guitar speeks. What are they?
Cheers! _________________ Gregg |

Hi,
Yes it is a twin independent channel amp, footswitchable.
The first channel gives a "bluesy" sound, i.e. quite a rich sound,
the second channel is brighter. Both pre-amp stages will give a clean sound up to the half way point on the gain control, and overdrive after that. The second channel gives a more modern distortion, controlled by the FX control, where as the first is just natural drive from the pre-amp valves. Output stage is 2 KT88's in p-p giving a very healthy 50W. The layout is done on individual PCBs for each channel, so that if you want a different pre-amp circuit (different sound) then you just plug out the old board and plug in a new one. The circuits are my own design, but to be honest, how many different ways can you wire up a triode for gain, bass, middle, treble etc.
The top cab has Celestion speakers fitted, and the twin cone arrangement gives a bit more sparkle to the top end.
Many thanks for the feedback, keep it coming all. |

They're just idling at 50W methinks
Plan any soundclips?

Hi,
As soon as I figure out how to do that I will. While I play guitar, I am looking for someone else who plays a lot better than me, so that I can record something decent.

| Yes, I put about -35V on the cathodes for biasing to give a healthy 50W output. |

I think there was a request for schematics earlier (way earlier considering when I got myself back here.) I, for one, would look forward to perusing those schematics, if you are willing to make them available. _________________ Rock 'n' Roll ain't noise pollution... neither is my amp |
